Traditional Sets
Traditional comforter sets brings to mind the kind of comforter sets that are laid on the kings of the old. This is no surprise since the form of comforters and bedspreads in the market today originate from old Europe.
Traditional comforter sets are multi-layered, usually with a patterned theme. The idea of a king’s bed may sound luxurious, but traditional sets can be luxurious, and at the same time, there the less exquisite sets made of common material like cotton.
Patterns on traditional comforter sets are usually seasonal flowers coinciding with their seasonal theme. A Spring themed set will have patterned flowers that are associated with Spring. This stems from the fact that in the olden days, people usually change their comforters with the changing seasons to suit the kind of warmth protection that they need.
Asian Sets
Recently, a different type of traditional comforter sets has started to emerge together with the rapid development of Asia. Comforters and bedspreads are not unique to Europe. In Asia, places like China and Japan have long had their own forms of comforters and bedspreads. Most notably, silk comforter sets from China.
Asian styled comforter sets can be a great addition to your room or even be a wonderful face lift to change your room. Asian comforters are usually decorated in soft pastels with natural scenery or other plants and animals.
Some of the popular themes in Asian comforters are a pair of mandarin ducks. Mandarin ducks pair for life in the natural world, and they signify happily ever after for married couples. So it is very apt for use as a pattern because married couples share a single comforter.
Other popular patterns include bamboo and cranes. These themes are also commonly associated with Zen or tranquillity. For city dwellers living a hectic lifestyle, a good night’s sleep is hard to come by. Especially if you’re trying to sleep just minutes after you shut down your computer. A room exhibiting a sense of peace and tranquillity will help to calm your nerves and lull you to sleep quickly.
Asian comforters are traditional if you’re of Asiatic descend, but for non-Asiatic people, Asian comforters can come across as contemporary design.
Casual Sets
Casual comforters are simple styled bed linens that can be simple toned, if used for a child’s bed, or colorful. Like contemporary comforters, casual comfortable are designed with simple lines, and shades that are easy on the eyes. But unlike contemporary comforters, casual comforters don’t come across as sleek and polished.
Casual comforters can come in a variety of designs. They do not conform strictly to a fixed description, instead, they appear as casual usually because they blend in well with the room setting instead standing out like it’s the centre of attraction of the room.
They give the feel of a simple everyday bedroom even with multiple layers of bed linens which may look complicated given other styles of design. Casual comforters are suitable for bright and easy settings and that goes well for sub-urban settings.
